This thriving form of dance is a great way to get fit and have fun with classes focussing on technique, choreography, traditional cabaret belly dance and modern fusion styles, prop work and tasters of a variety of oriental, asian and latin dance forms. Bellysimmo Belly Dance
Welcome all to the new Blog for Bellysimmo... the fun and vibrant way to dance and make new acquaintances!
I started teaching Belly Dance after being introduced to the art form at, would you believe, work. Working for a large employer has it's benefits, one of them was the promotion of healthy activities for staff on campus, and when I discovered a new belly dance class was being taught in the canteen after work I just had to try it! My first introduction was great fun, with a fabulous teacher and a great group of ladies to dance with, I looked forward to the class and soon fell in love with it.
I discovered that belly dance brings with it enormous benefits, such as building and strengthen muscle tone, improving overall fitness, reducing stress levels and increasing laughter lines! It's also a great way to be creative through choreography and costume making.
My love for the dance soon led me to teach, after much encouragement from my friends, and I am now lucky enough to have established wonderful groups of ladies who enjoy their hour of fun every week and who look forward to the new routines and the haflas (parties) in the pipeline.
My aim for the classes is to bring some fun and enjoyment into our increasingly busy and pressurised lifetsyles, enhance a vibrant social culture and raise money to aid charities that mean a lot to the groups.
By teaching belly dance and other forms such as bhangra/bollywood, tribal belly dance and veil work, I aim to show that exercise can be fun a liberating and there is always a way to escape from the daily grind in a safe and supportive environment.
